Farsun — Privacy Policy

The short version: Farsun has no ads, no tracking, and no account. The only data that ever leaves your device is optional, anonymized gameplay data for leaderboards and asynchronous multiplayer. Here are the specifics.

What this app does not collect

Farsun contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software. To be specific, the app does not:

  • Collect or transmit your name, email address, phone number, or contacts
  • Use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or track you across other apps and websites
  • Include any third-party analytics, attribution, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs
  • Require an account, sign-up, password, or login of any kind
  • Request access to your camera, photo library, microphone, location, or contacts

There is no server run by the developer that receives your personal data.

Game Center (optional)

If you choose to sign in to Game Center, Farsun submits your scores and achievement progress to Apple's Game Center service so leaderboards and badges work. This is entirely optional — the game is fully playable without signing in, and all single-player progress works offline.

Game Center is operated by Apple, and any data handled through it is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not this one. The developer never receives your Apple ID, email, or real name through Game Center.

iCloud sync of your progress

Farsun can sync your game progress — scores, unlocks, and settings — across your own devices using Apple's iCloud (the iCloud key-value store tied to your Apple ID). This data lives in your personal iCloud account. The developer cannot see it, and it is never sent to any other server.

You control this entirely in iOS Settings: turn iCloud Drive or iCloud for the app off and nothing syncs. Game progress remains stored locally on your device either way.

Echo Duels and the shared duel database

Farsun has an optional asynchronous multiplayer mode called Echo Duels. When you take part, the app submits gameplay data about your run — such as your score, run duration, and the positions of enemies you didn't defeat — to a shared database hosted on Apple's CloudKit. Other players racing the same daily seed can then face "echoes" of your run, and you face echoes of theirs.

Your identity in this shared database is stored only as a one-way hashed identifier derived from your Game Center player ID. It is not your name, email, or Apple ID, and it cannot be reversed back into them. The data submitted is gameplay data, not personal information.

Echo Duels are optional. If you don't sign in to Game Center and don't use the multiplayer features, no run data is submitted to the shared database — all solo play stays on your device.

Push notifications

If you allow notifications, Farsun uses them to let you know when a rival has answered one of your duels. These are delivered through Apple's push notification network and CloudKit subscriptions tied to your anonymized identifier. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings, and the rest of the game works normally without them.

On-device AI (Apple Intelligence)

On devices that support it (iOS 26 and later), Farsun's Nemesis boss can generate short in-character taunts using Apple's on-device Foundation Models. This runs entirely on your device — nothing about you or your gameplay is sent to the developer or any external service for this feature, and the game falls back silently when it isn't available. It is purely cosmetic.

Links to other services

Farsun contains links you can choose to tap that open the developer's website and a tip page (Buy Me a Coffee). These open in Safari or the relevant app and are operated by those companies under their own privacy policies. Farsun shares no data with them — following a link is entirely up to you.

Children's privacy

This app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Because no personal data is collected at all, there is nothing collected from children to disclose, sell, or delete.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes that affect how your information is handled will be reflected here before they take effect.
